Augustine’s Bistro: Look for the Hippo

Augustine's opened in the Selby-Snelling neighborhood in 2017. It’s a concept cafe where you can find something wholesome and delicious to eat and something awesome to drink.

So, who is the hippo? “He’s our inspiration,” says Anne Marie, the partner-manager. " We named our restaurant after St. Augustine of Hippo, who, among other things, was the patron saint of brewers. And we engage with the best brews, so we chose the hippo as our signage.”

Chef Derik Moran has been creating menus and leading culinary brigades for award-winning restaurants for over twenty-five years. Skilled in the principles of sauce making, baking, butchery and preservation, he brings his impressive skills to Augustine’s.

Try the takeout menu anytime, and in warm weather, you can feast or imbibe outdoors on the delightful patio.

As a result of the Covid restrictions and current safety concerns, we are open Wednesday thru Saturday, 5–10pm. On Selby, just west of Snelling, at the corner of Pierce. Check out the hippo!
